After the fall of Saigon to Communist forces in 1975,
Vietnam was virtually isolated from the rest of the world.
However with the end of the Cold War, the country finally
re-opened its doors to foreigners in 1989 and re-established
diplomatic relations with the USA in 1995.

Although
Vietnam is now undergoing rapid development, its 82 million
population generally remains poor. The absence of effective
family planning and widespread corruption remain as serious
obstacles to growth. While Buddhism dominates the religious
minds of Vietnamese (84%), the country has the highest
percentage of Catholics (9%) in Asia outside of the Philippines.

It is within this backdrop in Vietnam that Mercy Teams
strives to fulfil our vision to be salt and light to the
nations suffering and destitute people.
Mercy Teams International in Vietnam,
is looking for long term Christian workers, who aspire
to live and serve in Vietnam. Besides having a heart for
the poor and needy, they should also be responsive to
the political sensitivities and have a desire to assimilate
to the local culture and language.

you have such a burden or want to know more about how
