If there is to be true change amongst the families we live with, then the world they live in must also change. To be an agent of social change is to carry a heart of compassion into the dusty streets where the weakest families live and instill in them a hope that someone cares.

And cares enough to help them change their world.

We find that many impoverished families would gladly work  if there were jobs available.  I often think It would be so nice to duplicate the work situation in Singapore where I live, where a local can walk into numerous factories or shops and there is an immediate job available.

Sadly, many families in the places Mercy Teams is working, cannot think about putting something aside for "next year" because they have nothing for the "next day".

Mercy Teams desire is to see Community Transformation by empowering local families and communities thru appropriate and sustainable Income Generation projects.

That is why Mercy Teams is partnering with a village inside Myanmar which has no water, to tap into underground water resources, so the entire village can draw water year round. Previosuly water was stored in the rainy season, in rusty drums and polluted water containers that in themselves were  a health risk.  Dengue and Malaria were common in the village and many children died in the area from water borne  diseases.

So what else is Mercy Teams doing in Community Transformation?

Our desire to see Communities transformed has led us to get involved in the largest Tsunami disaster in modern history.. Our Fish Farm operation, which is a partnership with Aceh farmers and their Village is an exciting cutting-edge project which is in full construction phase as I write this..
